well better late than never. My friend & I didn’t get to St Pauls till quite late
in the day, so no didn’t aee Julian Assange or hear him speak. On arrival
found that the police were blocking the road. However, a nice chap told us
to nip round a back street to where we could get through police lines &
into the Demo. Wasn’t that many Tents erected at the time, though that
had changed before we left later on that evening. Overall the atmosphere
was good, only a couple of scuffles when the police lines started to begin
their kettling manovers, moving in & enclosing people into a smaller &
smaller space. However, people sitting down row upon row, seemed to
stop them from making the enclosure very small. The Police tactic of the
day was to spend a couple of hours not letting anyone in or out, then a
couple of hours letting people in & out. So it wasn’t just a case of trapping
people for hours on end. Contrary to many of the rightwing comments I
have seen flying about the internet stating that the protesters are all
unwashed workshy spongers. The protesters we met are people that have
come together, from all spectrums of society, who have had enough of a
failing global economic system. A System that does not work to give
security or a decent standard of living for the majority of humanity. Neo
Liberal Capitalism has continually shown itself to be a system that works
for the few at the cost of the many. It is evolving in such a ways as to begin
the creation of a Global Feudal Society. A system that privatises profit &
power (for the few) & socialises debt & poverty (too the many). My friend & I cannot stay at the occupation site, however we intend to keep on on
visiting the occupation whenever we can for as long as we can. My hope
is that others will do the same,in regards to all the occupation sites across the UK & where they are taking place around the world, as this will keep numbers up & will not let the impact of this important Global protest fade away.<\/p>\n
Finally a Big Shout Out to those people who are on the Jarrow to London March<\/a>(another social protest not seen or heard much in the mainstream press. This march began 75 years after the original march of October 1936.
